Il giovane pilota del DR Racing Kart chiude in crescendo il weekend sul tracciato bresciano, conquistando il quarto posto di classe e la tredicesima piazza assoluta nella categoria KZ2
Grinta, abnegazione e tanta voglia di emergere. Sfruttando nel migliore dei modi queste doti, Alex Zucco ha sfoderato una prestazione convincente nell’ultimo atto stagionale del Campionato Italiano ACI Karting, andato in scena nel weekend del 22-24 Settembre sul Franciacorta Karting Track. Dopo i positivi segnali già messi in mostra nel Mondiale di Wackersdorf, il giovane pilota milanese ha confermato la propria crescita anche nel round che ha assegnato i titoli tricolori della stagione 2023, chiudendo ad un passo dal podio nella classe Under 18 e con un eccellente tredicesimo posto assoluto nella categoria KZ2 composta da uno schieramento di 34 partecipanti.
Si tratta di un risultato che evidenzia il grande lavoro portato avanti nel corso della stagione con il DR Racing Kart, grazie al quale Alex è riuscito a terminare con il sorriso un fine settimana partito decisamente in salita. Pur essendo soltanto alla sua 33esima gara in carriera, il 16enne di Buccinasco si è ben comportato al cospetto dei più esperti specialisti della disciplina, lottando con il coltello tra i denti e traendo preziosi insegnamenti dagli errori commessi. Il bilancio finale del weekend di Franciacorta è quindi da ritenersi sicuramente positivo, soprattutto considerando la capacità di Zucco di ribaltare anche dal punto di vista mentale una situazione che sembrava poterlo mettere in difficoltà.
Dopo aver effettuato le prime sessioni di prove libere su asfalto bagnato, il portacolori DR Racing Kart non è riuscito a sfruttare appieno le proprie potenzialità nel corso delle qualifiche, ottenendo un 31° tempo che lo ha posto nelle condizioni di dover andare subito all’attacco in gara. Purtroppo la fortuna non lo ha aiutato in questa circostanza, visto che al via della prima manche l’avversario posizionato davanti a lui è rimasto bloccato sullo schieramento di partenza: nonostante il pronto tentativo di evitarlo, Zucco ha urtato il kart fermo finendo in testacoda e dovendo sin da subito alzare bandiera bianca.
Il fatto di aver saltato la prima gara del weekend avrebbe potuto rappresentare un handicap non da poco per il pilota milanese, il quale però da quel momento in poi è riuscito ad invertire la rotta, inanellando una serie di prestazioni convincenti sino all’apoteosi finale. Nella seconda manche di Sabato 23, Alex (scattato dall’ultima fila della griglia) è infatti riuscito a recuperare sino alla 22esima posizione sotto la bandiera a scacchi, ponendo le basi per proseguire il trend positivo anche nella giornata seguente.
La prima delle due manche finali ha visto Zucco guadagnare diverse posizioni sin dallo spegnimento dei semafori, risalendo nel corso della gara a suon di sorpassi sino a conquistare un positivo 20° posto, nonostante stesse utilizzando gomme usate. Questo risultato gli ha consentito di posizionarsi in decima fila sullo schieramento della sfida conclusiva, in occasione della quale ha avuto l’opportunità di utilizzare un set di pneumatici nuovi: un’occasione che Alex ha sfruttato al meglio, rendendosi autore di una prova spettacolare che lo ha visto risalire sino alla 13esima piazza finale e ad un soffio dal podio tra gli Under 18, a dimostrazione di come impegno e talento possano consentire di raggiungere traguardi prestigiosi.
Alex Zucco (pilota DR Racing Kart): “E’ stato un weekend iniziato decisamente in salita, visto che anche le condizioni meteo incerte nel corso delle prove libere non mi hanno consentito di trovare il giusto feeling in vista delle qualifiche, dove ho ottenuto un risultato al di sotto delle mie potenzialità. Al via della prima manche eliminatoria ho commesso un errore, non riuscendo ad evitare un avversario rimasto fermo in griglia davanti a me, finendo per piegare l’assale e dovendomi ritirare. Poi le cose sono andate decisamente meglio nella seconda gara del Sabato, in cui sono riuscito a rimontare dall’ultima fila sino alla 22esima posizione. Domenica infine sono riuscito a mettere a frutto l’esperienza accumulata nelle giornate precedenti, con due gare ricche di sorpassi e che alla fine mi hanno visto conquistare un ottimo 13° posto finale. ALEX ZUCCO CLOSES TO THE UNDER 18 PODIUM IN THE ITALIAN ACI KARTING CHAMPIONSHIP IN FRANCIACORTA

Grit, self-sacrifice and a great desire to emerge. Making the best use of these skills, Alex Zucco showed off a convincing performance in the final seasonal act of the Italian ACI Karting Championship, which took place over the weekend of 22-24 September on the Franciacorta Karting Track. After the positive signs already shown in the Wackersdorf World Championship, the young Milanese driver confirmed his growth also in the round that awarded the Italian titles for the 2023 season, finishing one step away from the podium in the Under 18 class and with an excellent thirteenth overall place in the KZ2 category made up of a field of 34 participants.
This is a result that highlights the great work carried out during the season with DR Racing Kart, thanks to which Alex managed to end a weekend that started off decidedly uphill with a smile. Despite only being in his 33rd career race, the 16-year-old from Buccinasco performed well in the presence of the most expert specialists in the discipline, fighting with a knife between his teeth and drawing valuable lessons from the mistakes he made. The final balance of the Franciacorta weekend is therefore to be considered certainly positive, especially considering Zucco’s ability to overturn a situation that seemed to put him in difficulty, also from a mental point of view.
After carrying out the first free practice sessions on wet asphalt, the DR Racing Kart driver was unable to fully exploit his potential during qualifying, obtaining a 31st time which put him in a position to immediately go on the attack. in competition. Unfortunately, luck did not help him in this circumstance, given that at the start of the first heat the opponent positioned in front of him remained stuck on the starting grid: despite a prompt attempt to avoid him, Zucco hit the stationary kart, ending up spinning and having to immediately raise the white flag.
The fact of having missed the first race of the weekend could have represented a significant handicap for the Milanese driver, who however from that moment on managed to reverse course, stringing together a series of convincing performances up to the final apotheosis. In the second heat on Saturday 23rd, Alex (tripped from the last row of the grid) he in fact managed to recover up to 22nd position under the checkered flag, laying the foundations for continuing the positive trend also on the following day.
The first of the two final heats saw Zucco gain several positions since the traffic lights went out, moving up during the race through overtaking until he achieved a positive 20th place, despite the fact that he was using used tyres. This result allowed him to position himself on the tenth row on the grid for the final challenge, during which he had the opportunity to use a set of new tyres: an opportunity that Alex made the most of, producing a spectacular performance that saw him climb up to 13th place in the final and just a hair’s breadth away from the podium among the Under 18s, demonstrating how commitment and talent can allow one to achieve prestigious goals.
Alex Zucco (DR Racing Kart driver): “It was a weekend that started off decidedly uphill, given that even the uncertain weather conditions during free practice didn’t allow me to find the right feeling in view of qualifying, where I obtained a result below my potential. At the start of the first qualifying heat I made a mistake, failing to avoid an opponent who remained stationary on the grid in front of me, ending up bending the axle and having to retire. Then things went decidedly better in the second race on Saturday, in which I managed to recover from the last row up to 22nd position. Finally, on Sunday I managed to put the experience gained in the previous days to good use, with two races full of overtaking and which ultimately saw me achieve an excellent 13th place finish. I thank my DR Racing Kart team and my mechanic, as well as Athletica Sports and my sponsors for their precious support.
